Arsenal are exploring the possibility of signing Alexander Isak from Newcastle United,
with the club now aware of the potential costs involved.
Isak is one of several striker targets Arsenal have been considering recently, with other names on
their radar including Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen, Joshua Zirkzee, and Benjamin Sesko.
However, Isak stands out as the only one among these options who has already proven
himself in the Premier League, making him a top priority for Arsenal.
To keep Isak at Newcastle, the club is reportedly pushing to enter negotiations for a
new contract with the Swedish international, who has been capped 44 times by his country.
Newcastle is eager to secure Isak’s future at the club by offering him a pay rise and including a release clause in his new deal.
This move comes as Newcastle faces the challenge of a 20% salary reduction for all
players due to their failure to qualify for the Champions League.
However, the club is reportedly willing to make an exception for Isak, emphasizing his importance to the team.
While Newcastle’s efforts to tie Isak down with a new contract would demonstrate their ambition
and ability to retain key players, there are suggestions that a substantial offer could still tempt the club to sell.
According to former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness,
an offer in the region of £100 million might be enough to persuade Newcastle to cash in on Isak this summer.
Wyness, speaking on the Inside Track podcast, praised Isak as a
“high-quality finisher” and suggested that he would be an ideal fit for Arsenal’s frontline.
However, he also noted that Isak has faced some injury issues, though he has proven his quality when fully fit.
In addition to their interest in Isak, Arsenal have also been linked with Ajax striker Brian Brobbey.
The 22-year-old Dutch international enjoyed a prolific season, scoring 22 goals in all competitions,
which has attracted attention from both Arsenal and Manchester United.
Brobbey, who is clearly confident in his abilities, stated during a Q&A session on TikTok that it would take a fee of €80 million (£68 million) to lure him away from Ajax.
He also expressed a preference for playing for Manchester United in the future, specifically under the management of his former coach Erik ten Hag.
However, Brobbey did not completely rule out the possibility of joining other clubs, leaving the door open for a potential move to Arsenal.
As the summer transfer window approaches its final stages, Arsenal’s pursuit of a new striker remains a key focus. Whether they can secure a deal for Isak or another top target like Brobbey will be crucial in shaping the team’s attacking options for the upcoming season.
