Arne Slot is a strong candidate to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, but the question remains over who will make up his coaching staff.

According to our exclusive information, the Dutchman wanted to take Marino Pusic with him, but the Bosnian coach refused.

Pusic was Slot’s assistant coach at AZ and Feyenoord and together they won the Eredivisie in the 2022/23 season. Pusic is currently managing Shakhtar Donetsk, currently top of the Ukrainian league.

When Pusic left the club, Slot said: ‘I’m sad to see him go but I’m grateful for his loyalty.’

The possibility remains that Feyenoord’s backroom staff — John de Wolf, Sipke Hulshoff, and Etiënne Reijnen — will follow the head coach to Anfield. But for now, Arne Slot first has to be officially unveiled as the next Liverpool boss.
