Manchester City are getting used to clubs from Saudi Arabia making moves to sign their players.
In the previous summer transfer window, the Manchester club saw Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte wave goodbye to the Etihad Stadium to start new chapters in the Middle East.
Then in this window, Kevin De Bruyne and Ederson have been linked with separate moves to the Saudi Pro League.
Now though, another key figure from Pep Guardiola’s ranks has been touted to be on the Saudi radar.
Saudi Arabia could potentially target a transfer move for Kyle Walker
A recent report from Give Me Sport had this to say on the matter.
It said: “Walker is in line to become the next Manchester City big-name to be targeted by the Saudi Pro League,
according to GMS sources, as an opportunity to pounce has been detected due to there being
uncertainty over whether he will remain with his current employers after competing at Euro 2024.
“GMS sources have been informed that there is doubt over whether Walker is keen to
remain on Manchester City’s books heading into the fast-approaching 2024/25 campaign,
and his potential departure would result in academy graduate Rico Lewis being on course to secure more regular game time.”
Walker is an important player for City
During the previous summer transfer window, The Athletic reported that after verbally agreeing to join Bayern Munich, Walker,
who Bukayo Saka recently said is a nightmare to play against, changed his mind and ended up staying at the Manchester club.
Having then gone on to captain City to a fourth consecutive Premier League trophy last season,
the £180k-a-week defender showed how important he is for the team by appearing in 32 league games in total.
Therefore, we feel that if the England international were to look to make a move to Saudi Arabia this summer, it would be a big blow for the Blues.
