Manchester City is reportedly ready to move for one of the star players at Euro 2024 who Tottenham is rumored to be chasing.
This summer’s competition in Germany was bound to bring to light new superstars in the European game in a big way,
with Italy defender Riccardo Calafiori arguably the most exciting name to emerge from the tournament, with Arsenal now close to signing the youngster.
With Euro 2024 now at the semi-final stage, there’s a real chance that
a surprise player could come to the front once again and stake their claim as the next big thing in Europe,
with Spain, France, England, and the Netherlands all eyeing up the big prize.
And City could soon make their move to land a Euro semi-finalist also wanted by Tottenham.
Man City join Tottenham in race to sign Spain star Dani Olmo
According to Sky Germany, Pep Guardiola’s side have joined Tottenham in the race to sign Spain
playmaker and RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo, who has impressed greatly this summer at the Euros.
Lauded by the City boss himself as an ‘incredible’ player, Spurs are reportedly interested in signing the
26-year-old attacking midfielder, with Ange Postecoglou eager to bring in a creative force to assist with the likes of James Maddison.
With FC Barcelona also interested in signing the former La Masia talent,
Olmo’s stock has increased greatly this summer after top performances for Spain at the Euros against the likes of Georgia and Germany.
And now, Tottenham face some big competition for Olmo’s signature in the form of City,
who could be viewed as the ideal replacement for one Kevin De Bruyne, should the Belgian leave for Saudi Arabia.
De Bruyne leaving City could end Spurs’ hopes of landing Olmo
De Bruyne is yet to commit his future to City this summer,
with rumors ongoing that Saudi Arabia could make the Belgian international their next
big-money signing after last year’s moves for the likes of Neymar, Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante.
And if the Premier League maestro is tempted by a move to the Middle East,
City will have the perfect excuse lined up to move for Olmo,
with Tottenham realistically having no chance of matching the reigning English champions.
Indeed, Olmo has shown this summer how good a talent he can be on the biggest stage,
and City registering an interest in the Leipzig star could spell trouble for Tottenham, unless they can move fast enough.
