Liverpool takes on Atalanta in the Europa League later today. Here, some of our writers select the starting XIs we would like Jürgen Klopp to choose at Anfield.

Liverpool could do with building a lead ahead of its trip to Italy next week, with Atalanta coming to Anfield later today. In the Europa League quarter-finals, a place in the final four, where either Benfica or Marseille will await, is at stake.

With the final seven matches of the Premier League season needing to be won, starting with Crystal Palace at home on Sunday, Liverpool needs to manage the fitness of key players. It will be a tricky balancing act for Jürgen Klopp to get right during the final couple of months of his tenure.

But if Liverpool could score a few goals in the first leg, that would take the pressure off the next in a week’s time and allow Klopp to make a few changes then.

After Palace at the weekend and then Atalanta again next Thursday, Liverpool has a trip to Fulham that signals the beginning of a triple-header of away fixtures also including Everton and West Ham.

These are the teams that some of our Liverpool.com writers would select against Atalanta. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota could both be involved but the pair would come off the bench rather than start having only just come back from injury.

In the attack, I’m bringing Cody Gakpo, who has looked a lot better when coming off the bench lately, back into the starting team. Mohamed Salah can start and I’d go with Darwin Núñez over Luis Díaz, but all four forwards will play a part. Diogo Jota might even be able to come off the bench.

My starting XI: Kelleher; Gomez, Konaté, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Elliott, Mac Allister, Jones; Salah, Núñez, Gakpo

Predicted scoreline: 3-1 to Liverpool.

One thing to watch:How does Klopp manage his squad and how many changes does he make?
