Ian Wright is optimistic that Arsenal’s last-minute acquisition of Raheem Sterling will turn out to be a “magnificent deal” for the team.
After learning that Enzo Maresca had not included Sterling in his plans for the upcoming Chelsea season,
Sterling agreed to sign a season-long loan agreement with the Gunners.
The England attacker, 29, will be hoping that his new team will mean a fresh start
after two disappointing seasons with Chelsea, where he scored just 19 goals in 81 games.
Following the announcement of the temporary swap, Sterling stated he was “hungry” for success under Mikel Arteta,
with whom he had previously collaborated at Manchester City, and that he was ready to go.
Being at a football team like this, where you can see that drive and desire, is a fantastic fit for me. They are continuing to push, year after year. That sums up how I am as a person, Sterling said to the official Arsenal website.
“You want to improve and outperform yourself every year.” I’m hoping I can get along with the boys and start having fun.
“It’s time to make my mark, meet the boys, and hopefully see some game time.”
The Arsenal supporters have had mixed feelings over Sterling’s move to north London. Some have brought up the attacker’s dismal play at Stamford Bridge over the previous two seasons.
Legendary former Arsenal striker Wright, though, says Sterling has a “point to prove”
in the Premier League and that his former team has made a great signing in him.
Wright stated on the Wrighty’s House podcast, “I’m really happy with how the deal has turned out.”
“I once heard Reiss Nelson…” It was in the Ipswich area that I first noticed the smells. We’ll see how it goes for him, I told myself. They are indeed hearing a pleasant noise down near Portman Road, as it appears. It’s an old stadium with a fantastic atmosphere.
But I believed Raheem was on his way when I heard Fulham speak for him.
