Arsenal is ready to have a stunning end to the 2024 summer transfer window after remaining idle for the majority of the period.
It now looks like they are ready to send winger Reiss Nelson out on loan to London rivals Fulham for the ongoing campaign.
Arsenal Finalise Fulham Loan Move for Reiss Nelson
Nelson Involved in Stunning Twist of Events
The Athletic’s David Ornstein has reported that Fulham is now close to reaching a total agreement with the Gunners over the possibility of roping in the English winger on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
This comes after Nelson was strongly linked with a move to Ipswich Town,
but that deal is now off after Arsenal failed to secure an agreement for his side. Fabrizio Romano now reports that the deal is done and documents were completed in time
Nelson realized that he was not going to be a regular in Mikel Arteta’s squad this season and urged for a move elsewhere.
Ornstein claims that the 24-year-old had told the Gunners that he wanted to assess his
options for a potential move to another club before the 2024 summer window ended.
Nelson’s game-time in the 2023/24 season was limited due to stiff competition in the Arsenal squad,
which is why he wants to join another club that can guarantee him more playing time going forward.
What Forced Arsenal To Offload Nelson?
Arsenal ended up being quite proactive on the final day of the 2024 summer transfer window. It has been reported that they have found an agreement with London rivals
Chelsea of the experienced winger Raheem Sterling on loan for the 2024/25 campaign. This might have led to them fast-forwarding the possible departure of Nelson.
The 24-year-old has made one appearance for Arsenal in the ongoing season
but did not look to have an important role in Arteta’s squad.
Nelson, who was hailed for his “elite mindset” by ex-Arsenal teammate Alex Iwobi last year,
has made 90 appearances across all competitions in his Arsenal career,
scoring eight goals and providing nine assists.
