During Tuesday’s Champions League action, Philip Foden caught Thierry Henry’s attention as the player who took charge of the game.
Man City got off to a good start with a goal from Bernardo Silva in the third minute. However, Madrid quickly responded with two goals of their own. Man City fought back, with Foden equalizing and Josko Gvardiol putting Guardiola’s team ahead.
“What I would say about Phil Foden this year is that when Erling Haaland is not there or when Kevin De Bruyne is injured, now he puts this team on his shoulders.”
“Now we can start talking world-class because you put your team on your shoulders. This guy is now world-class.”
Phil Foden has scored 22 non-penalty goals this season which is the most by any attacking/central midfielder in a single season ever (Top 5 leagues only).
