According to Football Insider, Liverpool is ready to make a £60 million bid for Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze. Eze is currently a part of the England squad for Euro 2024 and has played an important role for Gareth Southgate’s side by coming off the bench.
Eze had a notable campaign with Crystal Palace last season, scoring 11 goals and providing six assists in 31 appearances across all competitions. As per reports, Manchester City, Arsenal, and Tottenham are also interested in Eze.
The 26-year-old reportedly has a £60 million release clause in his Palace contract that runs until the end of the 2026-27 season. Any interested party willing to conclude a deal before the end of the summer transfer window would reportedly need to spend that.
Liverpool’s hierarchy is looking to bolster their ranks as the Merseyside giants look to start a new era under Arne Slot. The club’s sporting director Richard Hughes and Chief Executive of Football Michael Edwards have reportedly drawn a shortlist of transfer targets.
However, with Euro 2024 and Copa America 2024 ongoing, transfer actions across the globe have cooled down. Hence, the Reds’ pursuit of Eze could take place after the end of the European Championships on July 14.
Arne Slot explains his first focus as Liverpool manager
Arne Slot has claimed that getting to know people around the club is his first goal as the Liverpool manager. Slot added that he has already done a lot of film study by watching matches and training sessions.
However, he said in a recent press conference that working with players and others is the best way to know people better. Slot is willing to focus on that aspect first.
Slot arrives at the club from Feyenoord Rotterdam. He helped the club secure a second-placed finish in the Eredivisie last season and has earned plaudits for the style of play he managed to implement.
