Manchester City midfielder Rodri has played a key role in Spain’s journey to the final of the 2024 European Championship.

After appearing in 50 games across all competitions in Pep Guardiola’s side last season, the 28-year-old has played more minutes in the Euros than any other outfield player in the Spain squad.

With the midfielder set to feature in this weekend’s final against England,

Rodri has highlighted one of his City teammates,

who he could be facing off against on Sunday, as being particularly dangerous.

Rodri says Phil Foden could be a problem in Spain vs England

While discussing Sunday’s final in a recent interview with AS, Rodri had this to say when asked about who he considers to be a standout player in the England squad.

He said: “They have a lot of them. I love Phil Foden because I know him, he’s with me [at City].

“He’s a player who has to be kept under control because he has an innate ability to move in a small space.

“But there are many players who can do a lot of damage. I don’t like to focus on one player. I like to take a complete picture of England. And we go with our weapons, one on one.”

Rodri knows all about Foden’s ability

Having played in 192 games together for City, racking up eight joint goal participation in the process, it’s clear that Rodri will know all about what Foden, who Roy Keane praised for his first-half performance against the Netherlands, is capable of.

Even though the Englishman hasn’t been able to score a goal or provide an assist for the Three Lions in this tournament, the fact that he has the joint-second-highest total of shot-creating actions in the England squad shows why he could be a danger for Spain to have to deal with in the final.

With either one or three City players set to get their hands on another trophy this weekend, the prospect of seeing Foden come up against Rodri will surely be an interesting one for many City supporters.
