Chelsea’s attempt to set yet another transfer record looks all but confirmed, with Estêvão Willian reportedly passing his medical on Friday in Brazil. According to Globo Esporte, all that’s left now is the signing of the contract, which would then make things officially official.
The 17-year-old who has already established his name instead of being just the “next [insert legendary player name of choice]”, will be expected to move to Chelsea at the end of next season, after turning 18 in April.
The numbers involved in this deal are typically eye-watering and are set to be a record for a South America-to-Europe transfer. Chelsea will be paying €40m up front, with a further €20m in “easier” add-ons and another €4-5m after that in “more difficult goals”. Palmeiras will keep 70 percent of the fee, the rest going to the player’s family.
Estêvão has continued to impress in the meantime, including with this brace of assists against Vasco last night.
